In Thailand and Nepal, the parents and sometimes relatives play a part in enrolling children as domestic workers.
Some parents want their children to become domestic workers because they (the parents) can save up more money due to the static nature of the work and its lack of freedom of movement; the child will not be tempted into expendi- tures on frivolities, and will be closely watched (Phlainoi, 2002).
